Lehraलहरा
A short melodic loop, usually on harmonium or sarangi, played in a fixed taal to accompany a tabla solo.
A lehra gives a soloing tabla player (or a student practicing) a steady melodic and rhythmic reference to stay oriented within the taal cycle, especially useful when playing at very fast or very slow tempos.
