Jatiजाति
The number of notes a raag uses in its aaroh and avroh: five (odava), six (shadava) or seven (sampurna).
A raag’s jati is written as a pair, e.g. “Sampurna–Sampurna” for a raag using all seven notes both ascending and descending, or “Odava–Sampurna” for one that omits two notes going up but uses all seven coming down.
