Bolबोल
A spoken/sung syllable representing a specific tabla stroke (e.g. Dha, Dhin, Ta, Tin, Ka).
Bols are how tabla patterns are taught, remembered and notated — a theka or composition is really a sequence of bols, each corresponding to a precise combination of fingers, palm and drum (dayan/bayan) producing a distinct sound.
